How is it distinctive?
The STETS Course is well suited to the needs of adult learners. It combines the best elements of reidential and distance-learning training – giving you flexibility and freedom to integrate your training with the rest of your life. Our modules are delivered online, as ‘conversations in print’, with each component carefully timed. This makes it easier to fit your study into the actual time periods that you have available.
FdA and BA top up students have the added benefit of a local tutorial to support and extend their learning. This meets at a mutually convenient day and time and will be within easy reach of your home – usually no more than half an hour away. The tutorial meets in weeks 1-3, 5-6, & 8 of each module.
FdA and BA top up students also have a local learning group, drawn from both church members and non-church members. This is a source of vernacular theology, building on the experience and reflection of group members, and a place where skills of facilitation and teaching can be developed. The group meets twice each module in weeks 4 & 7 (i.e., a total of 8 times a year).
STETS students have a genuine sense of belonging to the wider STETS community and to Sarum College. Our regular residentials provide excellent opportunities to come together to share perspectives in a larger group.
Overall, STETS offers an innovative and fresh approach to theological education, combining distance and residential learning and integrating rigorous academic study with experience.
