The Library

As a STETS student you are automatically a member of Sarum College Library.  It is normally open on week days between 09:00 hrs and 17:00 hrs throughout the year and until 18:30 hrs on the Fridays of Residential Weekends. It  is not staffed during the lunch hour from 13:00 hrs to 14:00 hrs.  It is also open Tuesday evenings until 7pm during term time, and open (but not staffed) throughout residential weekends and schools.  Access at other times is by arrangement with the librarian or a member of the STETS staff.  The Library operates a postal service and also offers inter-library loan facilities.

The library is extensive and widely-used and presently holds over 40,000 volumes.  About 1000 volumes are added each year as a result of donations and the purchase of new books. All of the basic books are held for reference use in the library, and many of the additional reading books for each module are available for short term loan while the module is running. Subscriptions are held for 50 current journals, which may be read in the library. One article from any one issue may be photocopied. Articles can also be supplied from journals held in other libraries. Library staff can help you to research details.

The library catalogue is fully computerised and the online version ‘Heritage Online’ is accessible from  http://217.158.105.100/heri4/  or from the link to the catalogue at http://www.sarum.ac.uk/library  There are many other resources, including ejournals and links to other useful sites accessible from the website at the above address.  Ask library staff for passwords and help.  The library has wifi, allowing access to the internet from your lap-top.  Ask library staff for log-on details.

A library induction is offered to all students at the beginning of the academic year.
