- Those who dread the prospect of retirement
In our world many are utterly and completely absorbed in their work; their work is their whole life. Yet custom requires that they cease from that work at a prescribed age, and they view this prospect with real dread. Speak peace to them, O Lord, and enable them to see themselves as you see them, as loved children and not simply as a profile of gifts and talents, energies and achievements. Enable them to release those responsibilities into the hands of others who will continue the work they have done. May they discover interests and skills that will give them fulfilment when their lifetime's work has to be set aside.
