Those who can't wait for retirement

Father God, you rested after your work was done and you saw that it was good. We pray for those who approach retirement longing for the days to pass quickly. Surround them night and day, loving Father, with a sense of your affirmation about the work they have done and are doing. Set them free from anxiety regarding the pace of change and the gulf between their diminished energies and the ever-increasing demands of work. We pray for those who look back on their life's work with sadness and regret: they may feel unfulfilled, their talents wasted, their lifetime's work of little worth. Bring them to their retirement, we pray, in health and at peace.
