The gifts of science and technology have enabled us to treat disease, prolong life and control pain. We acknowledge that these gifts are from you, O Lord, and offer our thankfulness. We pray for people involved in research, development, manufacture and marketing of pharmaceutical products.
We pray for those who regulate the testing and licensing of drugs. May they reach decisions that hold in good balance the many interests at stake: the sick, research scientists and technicians, shareholders.
We pray for people skilled in design and fitting of artificial limbs and aids for the disabled. We pray for those making medical equipment of all kinds. Prosper all efforts to save life and enhance its quality. Help us all to find the right balance between innovation and risk.
